JANE Brown (Points of View, August 13) appears to be falling in to the wishy-washy liberal trap of trying to understand why criminals are behaving as they are.
Well sorry, Jane, but I couldn’t care less as to why pond life behaves like it does.
I want to see something being done to prevent them from re-offending. I want to see longer prison sentences, harsher prison sentences, more prisons built and the abolition of the Human Rights Act, which protects the criminal.
I want to see punishment being dealt to deter others from committing the same offences.
If some scumbag breaks in to my house then I want harsh justice to be done, possibly meted out by myself. What I do not want to do is to try to understand why the poor little hooligan is breaking the law.
Now it’s time for an iron fist, not lily-livered understanding.
