LAST week the Guardian reported on the jailing of a Winsford babysitter who sexually abused an eight-year-old girl for three years.

David Worrall, of Dee Way, was sentenced to six years but will be released in just over two because of time already served and good behaviour.

The mother of his victim, who is now in her 20s, has spoken of her disgust at the sentence and the devastating effect it has had on her family.

She said: “I am the mother of his victim. He’s got six years but will serve less than two because of the time he has served on remand already.

“Is this what they call justice?

“I know exactly what he did.

“We have spent the last year listening to her cry and ask us why he did that to her and we cannot answer that question.

“No one knows or cares what our family is going through right now.

“When is our torment going to end?

“When is the judicial system going to protect our children?

“In two years’ time he is going to be free.

“He has got to live somewhere and they said they cannot stop him if he wants to come back to Winsford.

“That means we could bump into him anywhere in town. Does that mean we have to become recluses just in case we might meet him in Asda?

“Who is the prisoner then?

“Is he going to be cured or is every child in Winsford at risk from his evil mind?

“Would you take the risk of having him living next door to you because unless they move him to a rock in the middle of the Atlantic some poor soul is going to be his neighbour.”
