Store gets alcohol sale ban

A CONVENIENCE store has been stopped from selling alcohol.
Police served Olivers, formerly known as the Nip In under different owners, with a notice at 2pm on Sunday to stop it selling alcohol following a breach of the licensing agreement.
Officers were forced to act following numerous complaints from residents that the store, in Old High Street, was flouting the rules of its agreement.
Insp Dave Snasdell, from Winsford NPU, said: “Police visited the premises following information from members of the public that they weren’t complying with the license.
“As a result of this police served them with a notice to stop them selling alcohol until they have resolved the problem.”
Part of the licence condition stipulates that the license holder must be on the premises while alcohol is being sold and complaints were made that this was not being adhered to.
Police said they had not yet decided whether the owners would face prosecution.
The Nip In was stripped of its licence in August 2007 after it was deemed to contribute to the levels of anti-social behaviour in the area.
New owners Neil and Sharon Burke were given a license when they took over the reins in April.
