WINSFORD Lifestyle Centre made a big splash when its swimming pool was filled with water for the first time last week.
The 25-metre pool was being tested for leaks and passed with flying colours.
The new complex, which will replace Winsford’s current sports complex and Civic Hall in April 2009, will be operated and managed by Vale Royal Borough Council and will also house a café with internet access, two squash courts, a multi-purpose hall for sports use and a 500-seat auditorium, a 50-station gym, dance studio, meeting and consultation rooms, a bar and a function room for up to 500 people.
Clr John Grimshaw, lead councillor for recreation, rural and culture, said: “This is going to be a fantastic addition to Winsford, and Vale Royal, and it is good to see it moving along quickly.”
He added: “Winsford will undergo a major transformation over the coming years, with a number of exciting projecs under way that will bring an added vibrancy and dimension to the whole town.”
