A NORTHWICH man has been fined £150 for his part in an accident that killed a Winsford business woman.
Roger Wood, of Bent Lane, Crowton, was slapped with the derisory fine by Northwich magistrates on Wednesday after pleading guilty to careless driving which resulted in the death of 47-year-old Gail Nixon, who owned Nixon-Lummis estate agents in Queens Parade.
Wood, 58, was driving his HGV down Holmes Chapel Road, in Sproston, on November 19 when he crashed into the back of Mrs Nixon’s MG sports car who was stopped waiting to turn right, shunting her into the path of an oncoming lorry and killing her instantly.
He was also given an 18-month driving ban.
