FIREFIGHTERS enjoyed a visit to their station from a group of young people from Greenbank Residential School in Northwich.

Watch Manager Ronnie Moore arranged the event to help incorporate fire safety education and highlight the role of a firefighter to the students.

Greenbank Residential School is in Greenbank Lane, Hartford, and with the help of the school the fire crew at Northwich Fire Station provided the visiting students with life skills.

A specialist team from Safe Opportunities Ltd helped to organise the logistics of the visit so that the crew could demonstrate to the students how they use equipment as part of their role.

Ronnie said: “Six students arrived at the station and embraced the atmosphere immediately, and along with their inquisitive attention to detail when viewing the fire engine and equipment, they learned quite a lot and were able to take away some vital fire safety advice.

“Visits such as these are really important and mean that the crew can interact with people from different environments.

“It also means that if we ever get a call from any of these young people then they will know what to expect."
