TALENTED scientists from Sir John Deane’s College have been recognised in the national Physics Olympiad awards.
The competition is run across the UK to encourage students to study physics and to recognise excellence in young physicists.
Students were put through their paces under exam conditions, being asked to solve physics-related challenges using the knowledge they have gained studying A levels.
Joe Adams gained a gold award, coming in the top 100 nationally.
Ben Lakeland gained a silver award, coming in the top 200 nationally.
Matt Taylor and Matt Kiely both gained commendations, and were placed in the top 900.
Anne Thomas, head physics and chemistry at the college, said: “All four students did exceptionally well and we are very proud that their talent has been recognised.”
