Residents’ prayers answered

RESIDENTS' prayers were finally answered when a multi-agency clean-up of Griffiths Park took place on Friday.

After months of complaining, Cheshire Police, Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service, Street Clean, Connexions and Weaver Vale Housing Trust joined forces to give the neglected park and surrounding areas a bit of TLC.

Representatives from the various organisations met at 11am at Rudheath High School before swooping down with their litter pickers in Griffiths Park, Brook Lane and Maitlandwood Close.

PC Leanne Brundrett said: "Myself and Police Community Support Officer Angela Richardson have been listening to the opinions of local people and have decided it is time to take action.

"We have spoken to several different agencies and together we have come up with a scheme to get the area cleaned up.

"We will all be working to tidy up Rudheath and give the residents an area to be proud of again.

"This is neighbourhood management at its very best and we have even seen support from Rudheath High School who is going to get involved in the clean up with some of the pupils coming down to get their hands dirty."

PCSO Richardson added: "It's great the kids are getting involved. These aren't the ones responsible for dropping the litter, but they felt so strongly about the problem that they wanted to get involved.

"This has all come about because of the links we have with the community and with other agencies and I am pleased we will all be able to work together to the benefit of Rudheath."
