Crowton WI by Diana Evans

President Kathy Baldwin welcomed members to this month’s meeting of Crowton WI. Earlier in the day eight members had attended CFWI’s Annual Council Meeting in Winsford. The main speaker was Anne Diamond who was very entertaining. Anne told many amusing tales about her role as a TV presenter and on a more serious level about how she had spearheaded the movement to help prevent cot deaths.

Forthcoming events include the Fun, Facts, Fashion and Fizz evening on October 22, the CFWI Service in Chester Cathedral on November 18 and a trip to Tatton Park Mansion on November 24. The New Year’s Lunch will be at Vale Royal Abbey on January 15.

The Speaker for the evening was Susan Barker whose talk was entitled ‘3D decoupage pictures and cards.’ Susan showed us examples of her work and then we all had a go at making a 3D Decoupage Christmas card. Everyone enjoyed being creative and at the end of the evening, Susan chose the best three as winners of the monthly competition.

The next meeting is on November 3, this is the AGM and Faith supper and we will also be celebrating Crowton WI’s 65th birthday.
