Event organisers promise future date for postponed show
3:10pm Saturday 23rd June 2012 in News By Matthew Taylor
A FAMILY fun day for Winsford residents will still go head later this summer, despite being postponed at the weekend due to bad weather.
The event, organised by community volunteers GGO Getters, who are working to improve their neighbourhoods in West Winsford, was scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 16 next to the BMX track, in Mount Pleasant Drive, but was cancelled on Thursday after heavy rain.
However, residents from the Glebe Green, Greenfields Park and Over estates have been reassured the event will still go ahead at a later date in the summer.
The event involves partners Weaver Vale Housing Trust, Muir Group Housing Association, WINCAP and Cheshire West and Chester Council.
Georgia Winstanley, neighbourhood development officer for Weaver Vale Housing Trust, said: “It was a shame the event had to be cancelled as I know a lot of residents were looking forward to it but I think the wet weather would have put people off.
“We will make sure the event does go ahead, at the moment we are looking at August and hoping the weather will be much better by then.”
