THE FIANCEE of a Winsford romantic, who proposed by leaving a message on a banner on Clive Lane, has said yes to his request.
Rachel Latham, of The Maples, Winsford, saw the marriage banner which was put up by soon-to-be husband Cliff Surtees, when driving to her hairdressers in Crewe.
And after the initial shock, the 25-year-old agreed to become his wife at their engagement party, on February 19.
“Cliff has wanted to proposed for ages,” Rachel said.
“When he planned to propose our son was in hospital, and he just did not know when to do it.
“I saw the banner and I didn’t quite know it was for me.
“How many Rachel’s must there be in Winsford?
“I was just quite shocked to be honest.”
The couple have been together seven years now, and have two sons Harvey, aged five and Olli, who is 15 months old. Cliff,43, has a daughter from another marriage.
The happy couple plan to marry in 2013.
