Cheshire Police appeal for witnesses after robbery at McColls in Abbotts Way


TWO men are being hunted after robbing a Winsford newsagents with a 10-inch knife on Monday, February 1.

Dressed all in black, the attackers got into McColls newsagents in Abbotts Way through the back door and threatened staff with the blade and a baseball bat at around 9.30am.

The workers were forced to hand over cash before the two men ran off between the houses in Saxon Crossway and Carden Avenue.

The first offender is described as around 6ft, and was wearing a black tracksuit with a word that looked like ‘location’ written up the arm.

He had his hood up and was wearing goggles. He was carrying a knife with a blade that was between 10 and 12 inches long.

The second man was between 5ft 10 and 5ft 11ins tall and was dressed head to toe in black. He was of stocky build and was carrying a baseball bat.

Insp Dave Snasdell of Winsford Neighbourhood Policing Team is appealing for anyone who saw anything to come forward and help bring the pair to justice.

He said: “This was a particularly nasty incident for the staff. Fortunately these kind of offences are very rare within the Winsford area and we appeal to all areas of the community who may have any information to come forward.

“You don’t have to tell us who you are, just what you know.”
