Man found in Littler Lane, Winsford, 'was not attacked'


A MAN found lying by the roadside with head injuries was not attacked, police said.

Officers and paramedics were called out to Littler Lane in Winsford in the early hours of Sunday morning to reports of a 65-year-old man lying injured.

An ambulance was sent out at 12.30am after an emergency call, and Cheshire Police officers followed three hours later.

Police initially launched an assault investigation but later called it off after learning that the man had accidentaly fallen.

A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “At 3.30am on Sunday we were informed of an earlier incident on Littler Lane, Winsford, whereby a 65-year-old local man had been hospitalised, having been found at the roadside with a head injury.”

The pensioner was taken to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire where he is ‘sitting up and talking’.
