CASH-STRAPPED worriers in Winsford are turning to yoga to help beat recession stress.
An experienced yoga expert has been drafted in to Woodford Lodge Sports Centre to help people find a healthy way to deal with financial pressure.
Bridget Bonehill is teaching traditional Hatha yoga – which focuses on breathing and relaxation as well as toning and strengthening the body.
“It’s about equipping our mind as well as our body for a more peaceful and relaxed approach to life,” she said.
“Anyone can do Hatha yoga. You work at your own pace, in your own time and there is no competition. It’s all about you and your body.”
Jon Kelly, operations manager at Chester and District Sports and Recreation Trust, which runs the centre, said the organisation is trying to do everything it can to make life easier for people.
“We’re living through difficult times and it can be frustrating to have so little control over the economic situation,” he said.
“However exercising is something we can control and taking up yoga is a positive step that will help people cope with the stresses and strains that can be caused by modern lifestyles.”
The class takes place on Tuesdays from 6pm to 7.30pm and costs £3. To book a place contact Woodford Lodge Sports Centre after 5pm on 01606 596 984.
