A NUMBER of defendants were dealt with by Wrexham and Mold Magistrates Court on Thursday and Friday (April 25 & 26).

They include:

Ross Young, aged 24 and of Sunnyside in Bagillt was sentenced for fail to surrender to police/court bail at the appointed time, which happened on February 15. He was fined £40 and ordered to pay £85 costs, as well as a £16 victim surcharge.

Carl Bambrough, aged 34 and of no fixed abode, was sentenced for obstructing a police officer and theft from a shop - both of which took place on April 25 at Prince Charles Road in Wrexham. He was jailed for two weeks.

Clara Barbu, aged 35 and of Long Hyde Road in Smethwick, was sentenced for theft from a shop. A fine of £40 was imposed, along with £85 costs and a £16 victim surcharge.The Leader:

Jason Helme, aged 52 and of Fairhope Avenue, Morecambe, was sentenced for using threatening or abusive words or behaviour, which happened on November 25 at Wrexham Football Ground. He was fined £623 and must pay costs of £310, as well as a £249 victim surcharge. The court opted not to impose a football banning order on him as "no violence was used by the defendant, who admitted using verbal abuse and "he has a long record of attending and supporting without any recorded incidents." The court also noted that "he had been drinking alcohol, which does aggravate the offence, but he does not have any previous convictions."

Matthew Pritchard, aged 38 and of Church Street in Flint was sentenced for one offence of sexual assault. He received a custodial sentence of 20 weeks.

The court handed down a 12-month conditional discharge. No costs were ordered but the defendant must pay a £26 victim surcharge.

Lana-Marie Davies, aged 38 and of Broxton Road in Wrexham, was sentenced for speeding - in that she exceeded 70mph on the A55 at Rhuallt. She was fined £40 and handed three penalty points, as well as being ordered to pay £110 costs and a £16 victim surcharge.

James Ferriter, aged 48 (who gave the court a care of address of Shotton Jobcentre, Deeside), was sentenced for using threatening or abusive words or behaviour and obstructing police - both offences having happened at Connah's Quay Library on January 22. He was handed a 12 month conditional discharge with no order for costs.

David Dunne, aged 49 and of Grosvenor Road in Maghull, was sentenced for speeding - in that he exceeded 70mph on the A483 at Rossett on August 6 last year. The court fined him £192 for the offence, and handed down three penalty points. He must also pay costs of £110 and a £77 victim surcharge.

Thomas Edwards, aged 29 and of Moreton Avenue in Rhosllanerchrugog, was sentenced for two offences of using threatening or abusive words or behaviour. The court fined him £360 for one of the offences and £540 for the other. He must also pay £300 in costs and a £360 victim surcharge.

Angela Hughes, aged 59 and of Garratt Close in Connahs Quay, was sentenced for two offences of failing to comply with a community protection notice, which took place in Chapel Street, Connah's Quay, on April 4 and 5. She was fined £80 and must pay £85 costs, as well as a £32 victim surcharge.
