Joe's search for strikers

10:00am Wednesday 23rd April 2008

JOE Gibiliru plans to sharpen his attacking armoury after seeing Winsford United draw two blanks in a week.

Blues hoped to find the net in their final Vodkat North West Counties League Division One clash at home to Formby last night, Tuesday, but the boss is already making plans for the summer.

"Our problem has been a consistent one," he told the Guardian.

"We've been creating lots of chances but not converting nearly enough of them for my liking."

His team followed a 2-0 midweek reverse at Squires Gate with a single goal defeat at Colne on Saturday to leave them hanging on to a top ten place before kick off last night.

Blues had chances to score in both matches before their hosts nicked the points.

"It was the same old story," added Gibiliru.

"At the moment it feels like the opposition score every single time they have a chance while it's taking us too many opportunities to get our goals."

Top scorer Les Miranda was without a goal in 10 games before facing Formby, but fellow front runners Darren Connell, Phil Mason, Lee Madin and Lee Thompson have all struggled for goals in recent weeks.

Gibiliru knows where he wants to strengthen for next season.

"I've got a list of names ready," he said.

"They are mainly attacking players, some creative while others are goalscorers."
