THE £6.2million health centre in Winsford has been officially opened. The supercentre on Dene Drive started treating patients last year but was not officially opened until a ceremony on Thursday.

The centre has already transformed healthcare in Winsford in the short time it has been open.

GP Dr Taluker is delighted with her new working home.

She said: "The new primary care centre has transformed the working environment for partners, staff and patients for the better.

"The primary care trust deserves to be congratulated for providing this excellent service for the people of Winsford."

The supercentre provides existing GP services as well as minor operations, physiotherapy and speech therapy.

Eddisbury MP Stephen O'Brien was given the honour of cutting the ribbon at the health centre, which now provides treatment for 23,000 people.

The centre was built by Assura Property and Henry Davidson Developments on behalf of Central and Eastern Cheshire Primary Care Trust.

Richard Burrell, chief executive of Assura, said: "This is a superb example of what a modern primary centre for the NHS should be and are testimonials to the value of successful partnership working with GPs and the NHS."

Henry Davidson director Simon Gardiner said: "This new centre is already proving to be very beneficial to the people of Winsford because three surgeries sharing resources provides better facilities in a convenient location."
