CHILDREN enjoyed a fun-packed day with a difference.

Pupils at Over Hall Community School in Winsford swapped lessons for a health and wellbeing day.

Six different activities inspired every child to develop new skills and learn about the importance physical activity has on mental health.

Many of the children wore red reindeer antlers and Christmas hats for a festive themed run round the school playground.

Active Cheshire presented a workshop to demonstrate the benefits of staying active to stimulate their minds and improve their health.

Laura Ackerley, PE lead, also responsible for personal, social, health and economic education and special educational needs and disabilities, said: "All the children participated and there were smiling, happy faces throughout the day. Many of them ran for longer and further than they had before and felt a real sense of achievement.

"The children all gave positive feedback about how much they had enjoyed the day.

"I was in the playground at the end of the day and the whole atmosphere was a positive one, parents and children conversing about the day and a real sense of happiness. I was so proud of all the children. It is so important that they look after their physical and mental health and they can all share this message with their families."
