A SINGER-songwriter is looking forward to returning to St Helens next month at a venue she has always enjoyed playing at.

Chantel McGregor is taking to the stage at the Citadel on Saturday, October 6 where she will perform songs from her first two albums and tracks from her third, which she is still writing.

It will be her last gig in a six-month tour that started at Bury St Edmunds on March 30.

Both of the 32-year-old's albums, Like No Other and Like Control, attracted critical acclaim in the music industry and was lauded as a "blues-rock messiah" and praised for her "great guitar work".

Chantel said: "I have played at the Citadel a few times before and have had a really fantastic time because it is such a vibrant venue.

"The crowd are always great so it is going to be a brilliant night.

"It will be interesting to see their reaction from songs from my third album but so far it has been really good."

Chantel became the first student at the Leeds College of Music to achieve a 100 per cent pass mark with 18 distinctions.

She was a awarded a first class honours degree in popular music and won the college's musician of the year prize.

The single, Take The Power, was playlisted for 5 weeks on Planet Rock radio.

Chantel is currently writing for her third album, debuting some of the new tracks on her 2018 tour which is currently taking place throughout the UK and Europe.
