A CLUSTER of garages could be demolished to make way for new family homes, if permission is granted by Cheshire West and Chester Council.

A planning application from Weaver Vale Housing Trust could see the demolition of the units and the construction of five new houses in Dene Drive.

Located in the midst of a large post-war housing estate, the mixture of two and three-bedroom houses are earmarked to be built overlooking the junction of Crossfield Avenue and will accommodate two parking spaces per property and bin storage top the rear.

An online statement submitted with the plans said: “Whilst it was felt to be important that the new development complimented its existing surroundings, it was also recognised that the existing housing tock on the estate is rather plain.”

The brick-built properties – which are said to appeal to families – will combat this by featuring a pop of colour at the entrances to the units.

The owner of the neighbouring property to the proposed site, 77 Dene Drive, has agreed to transfer the strip of land which forms the legal vehicular access point to the site.

The document which was drafted to agree to the transfer says that it also grants Weaver Vale Housing Trust to complete some needed tree removal work.

A number of overgrown fir trees were removed from the site last year however, a large lime tree and numerous tree trunks – ranging from two to three metres tall – remain on the edge of a neighbouring property.

The application seeks to remove these before commencing with building work, should permission be granted.
