EDDISBURY MP Antionette Sandbach is one of the 12 Tory rebels in the customs and medicines votes on Tuesday.

Antoinette Sandbach spoke out in Parliament when the House of Commons gathered to discuss the recent round of Brexit debates.

The Trade Bill is a Brexit measure designed to establish a framework for UK international trade, outside the EU institutions which have regulated it since 1972.

In the debate, she said: “AstraZeneca has a supply line of 4,000 people in the north-west. They assist in the manufacturing of a cancer drug that is exported to Europe. Without that export to Europe it would not be viable, because it helps 130,000 people across Europe.

Antoinette Sandbach said: “I was pleased to vote for the Government’s Trade Bill to pass through the House of Commons and I am committed to ensuring that we deliver the Brexit people voted for while protecting peoples’ jobs and prosperity.”

The UK is due to leave the EU on March 29 next year but the government are still to agree on how the country’s final trading relationship will work.

The Conservative MP added: “It is a vital step forward to ensuring a smooth and orderly Brexit. I am also pleased that an amendment passed that ensured the UK remains a part of the European Medicines Agency, as this will help protect the pharmaceutical industry, which many of my constituents work in, as well the NHS.”
