PLANS to convert an office in Winsford near the town council building to a home have been given the green light.

Cheshire West and Chester Council have approved the change of usage for Wyvern Lodge, also known as The Caretaker’s Lodge and situated opposite Wyvern House in The Drumber, to be changed from an office space into a single dwelling for up to four people to share.

The initial design and access report said: “The accommodation was originally built as a house and City West Housing Trust, in partnership with CWaC propose the conversion back to be used as accommodation.

“The provision would be for people who are homeless and in need of temporary accommodation with support provided to assist them to live independently and ultimately move on to permanent accommodation.”

The work must be completed within the next three years from the date of the applications approval, which was Monday, July 9.

Plans include using the three ‘bedrooms’ and converting the ‘front lounge’ into a fourth. Each resident will share the lounge kitchen and bathroom facilities.

The property was originally built to serve as accommodation for a residential caretaker however, in 2010, this was changed, and the building became an office space for a team from CWaC.

The workers have found a suitable place to relocate so that the work may commence once approval is granted.
