FIREFIGHTERS are currently at the scene of a fire at the disused Handley Hill primary school building in Beeston Drive
Fire crews from Northwich and Winsford were alerted to the incident at around 2.40pm after smoke was spotted coming from an old site.
Officers believe the fire has been started deliberately by youths who forced entry into the school and set fire to debris inside.
On arrival, crews located the fire in one of the classrooms and used four breathing apparatus, a large fan and two hose reel to put out the fire.
They are currently making a search of the building to ensure the fire is out.
