A SERIES of toy ‘sleepovers’ will take place at library branches across Cheshire, including Winsford and Wharton, to promote reading for fun in young children.

In a first for Cheshire West and Chester libraries, children are invited to bring a cuddly toy to the library, as part of the National Bookstart Week celebrations across Cheshire.

National Bookstart Week is an annual celebration of the charity BookTrust’s flagship reading programme to encourage families to have fun reading together, anywhere and anytime with lots of fun activities planned across the town.

Library staff will stage photographs of all the toys reading and getting up to various activities throughout their overnight night.

When the children come to collect the cuddly friend the next morning, they will be presented with photos of what the group got up to during the night, a certificate and a recommendation of a book that the toy enjoyed reading during their stay.
