IN a bid to raise pupils desire to read more, a Winsford school have welcomed students from a neighbouring high school to buddy up with younger children.
On a weekly basis, youngsters from the Grange Community Primary School are paired with ‘young librarians’ from Winsford Academy to support each other with their reading.
Annette Williams, executive headteacher from the Grange Community Primary School, said: “It has been wonderful to welcome the Young Librarians, who have been such wonderful role models for our children.
“Working in the newly-refurbished library at Grange, the children have enjoyed a variety of texts and now know that reading is fun.”
The children spend time together reading a range of fiction and non-fiction texts, whilst developing a greater appreciation of books and deepening understanding of reading for fun.
