TWO aspiring opticians from Winsford have passed their apprenticeships and look forward to a full-time career with Specsavers.

Chloe Knight and Natasha Marsh, both 21, will begin a new career in eye health at Specsavers, in Winsford Cross Shopping Centre, following a year training as apprentices at the store.

Prior to the apprenticeship, Chloe and Natasha had no experience in optometry, having respectively worked for a cleaning company and nursery.

Peter Adshead, store director at Specsavers, said: “It has been fantastic to watch the progress Chloe and Natasha have made over the year. They have certainly hit the ground running and already made a big impression.

“We strongly believe that by investing in the town’s young workforce, we are helping to encourage a strong, stable and productive local community.”

Working with Specsavers has already seen both Chloe and Natasha to grow in confidence, learn the ropes and discover new passions.

The role will see the pair expand their knowledge of optics and develop their customer support skills.

The programme offers successful apprentices the chance of further studying opportunities, with the potential to qualify as a dispensing optician within five years.

The women will now be able to undertake sponsored training leading to further qualifications.

The apprenticeships scheme has been running for just over two years and 90% of the apprentices take on full-time positions within the company.
