WINSFORD’S best and brightest were celebrated at a glitzy ceremony on Friday night, as the town mayor’s Oscar awards were handed out.
Town mayor Cllr Mike Kennedy hosted the event at Winsford Lifestyle Centre, which shone a light on residents who have gone above and beyond to make an impact on the community this past year.
Wide-ranging categories invited the town to nominate community heroes from all walks of life, from young entrepreneurs to senior citizens, volunteers to businesses.
Nominations flooded into the town council officer earlier this year, before a panel whittled it down to a shortlist and winner in each category.
Those shortlisted then made their way to Winsford Lifestyle Centre on Friday, April 6 to see the winners presented with their awards.
Cllr Kennedy said: “Once again, the Oscars were an absolutely marvellous affair.
“It’s really great to see each year the unsung heroes of the community being rewarded for their fantastic efforts.
“There was an age range all the way for 10 years old to 83 – it was a real diverse range of recipients and the judges did a fantastic job in choosing the winners.
“I myself enjoyed the night tremendously.”
Winsford Town Council clerk Mark Bailey said: “The evening went very well and was well supported. We are very glad to see people there enjoying themselves and overall it was a great celebration of Winsford and its people.”
