GRANGE Community Primary School have gone ‘Travelling Through Time’ to celebrate National Science Week.

Last week began with an exciting assembly pondering the mystery of Amelia Earhart's disappearance, and pupils were excited to be presented with 'class challenges'.

These ranged from 'who can make a space shuttle land the slowest?' featuring Eggbert Peake, to 'who can make the strongest boat?' and 'how can we make a helicopter fall as quickly as possible?’

The assembly also saw the launch of a campaign to make furthest-flying aeroplane in the school, described as ‘a home learning challenge like none before’.

Throughout the week, each class worked tirelessly to solve their investigation through planning and carrying out experiments, fostering curiosity and inspiring cross-curricular maths, poetry and artwork.

Finally, on Friday afternoon, findings were presented to parents during a Science Celebration Afternoon, which also saw the final of the paper aeroplane competition.

Spectators celebrated the winners from Key Stage 1/Early Years and Key Stage 2 competitions.

Executive headteacher Annette Williams said: “We were thrilled with the excitement of Science Week, which permeated all aspects of our learning.

“It was also wonderful to welcome so many parents to share our Science Celebration Afternoon.

“What a fabulous week.”
