Women from across Winsford are set to celebrate International Women's Day with a focus on the centenary of women’s vote in the UK.

Kate Blakemore, the event organiser, expects the second annual event of its kind in Winsford, to attract more people, and has organised a series of inspirational speakers and workshops, set to take place at Winsford Academy on Saturday, March 3, from 10am to 4pm.

International Women's Day is a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.

The 2018 International Women’s Day theme is 'Press for Progress', with Winsford Women's Day adopting the theme of celebrating 100 years of votes for women and women in sport.

Motherwell Cheshire are now in their second year of organising Winsford Women's Day, and forth year of organising Crewe Women’s Day. The celebration is developing into a flagship event for the charity who support Mum's across Cheshire.

Kate Blakemore said: “I’m thrilled that we have managed to put together another excellent line-up of inspirational speakers for this event in Winsford.

“It’s also a chance for women to become familiar with the female centred services available in the area, to help support with their mental and physical health.”
