WINSFORD is gearing up for the holiday season with its Christmas lights switch on tomorrow.

The Winsford Christmas Street Festival runs from 4pm until 7pm with a lantern parade by primary school children making its way along the Old High Street to the main site from 4.15pm.

Lights will be switched on by town mayor Cllr Mike Kennedy at 5pm and he will be joined by BBC radio and TV personality Allan Beswick.

Town clerk Mark Bailey said: “This year’s festival promises to be great, with something for all the family. The Christmas lights promise to be truly spectacular.

“The Old High Street is a great venue for the festival and will give hundreds of people the chance to see the wide range of specialist shops and businesses that operate there.”

Live music will be played as well as a Christmas market, funfair and street entertainers.

Santa Claus will make an appearance in the St Luke’s Hospice double decker bus.

The festival will end with a firework display at 7pm.
