LITTLER Grange Nursery in Winsford, which cares for 85 young children, has been praised by Ofsted inspectors.

The nursery, which provides early education for children aged between two and four, underwent an inspection, carried out by the education standards regulator Ofsted, on September 19.

This was the first inspection since May 27, 2014, and the nursery maintained its ‘Good’ rating.

The findings of the inspection have now been made public, and the nursery has been praised for having an ‘ambitious and dedicated’ team.

Ofsted inspector Lauren Parsons reviewed parental feedback, toured the premises, observed activities, spoke with staff and children, and held a meeting with the manager and care provider.

Ms Parsons said in her report: “The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. Staff and leaders have a secure understanding of their responsibilities to protect children from harm.

“Staff are well qualified and interact with children at their level. They use their observations effectively to assess children's current level of development and plan interesting activities. Children are encouraged to think about risks and how they can keep themselves safe when using tools, such as scissors, and as they move through the nursery.

“Children are well prepared for the next stage of their learning. They have good social skills and develop an understanding of good behaviour. Older children communicate their feelings to others in attempts to resolve conflicts themselves.

“Staff are positive role models for children and use good manners. Children learn to be respectful of others and have opportunities to explore diversity and the wider world. They are encouraged to be independent wherever possible, for example, when taking their coats and shoes off.”
