A FESTIVAL launching in October aims to prove that age is no barrier to having fun.

Brightlife, which runs from Sunday, October 1 until October 7, is a celebration of the over-50s in the borough and will feature everything from arts and crafts to gentle taster sessions.

In Winsford, the event will launch with a memory tea dance in the Dingle Centre on Thursday, September 28.

It is for people with memory problems and refreshments will be provided throughout the afternoon.

On Sunday, October 1 a share club will take place which aims to match community volunteers with people who could benefit from some company.

Chris McClelland, head of Brightlife, said: “Community support, a sense of purpose and a feeling of belonging are the keys to a long and happy life.

“At Brightlife we have been working with local organisations for the last three years to provide these things to older people across Cheshire West and Chester.

“We have already directly impacted on the lives of 1,000 lonely or socially isolated people over 50 living in the borough, and the 2017 Brightlife Festival is our way of reaching even more.”
