AN 18-year-old man from Winsford has been arrested today in relation to several incidents of criminal damage to shop windows.

A number of businesses in the town centre have been subject to criminal damage today and Cheshire Police were called to five reports of windows being smashed at premises in High Street.

Premises believed to have been targeted include Natwest bank, Verdin Exchange and Allure Hair and Beauty. 

Derek Johnson, owner of the community art gallery Crosshatch, has also confirmed there has been some damage to his premises. 

Police have confirmed to the Guardian that an 18-year-old man has now been arrested on suspicion of damage and affray.

A spokesman from Cheshire Police said: "Officers investigating reports of criminal damage at business premises in High Street, Winsford, have arrested an 18-year-old man from Winsford on suspicion of damage and affray.

"Five incidents were reported to officers today, August 22, involving windows being smashed."
