A JUSTGIVING page has been launched to raise funds to repair Darnhall Village Hall.
Between Monday, August 7 and Wednesday, August 9, offenders broke into the village hall and caused thousands of pounds worth of damage.
An individual who wishes to remain anonymous has set up the donation page with the aim of raising £5,000 for repairs.
Angela Hancock, hall booking clerk, said: “Our beloved village hall will have to remain closed for some time while we start the job of tidying up.
“Some individuals thought they would have some ‘fun’ and destroy the interior of a hall that provides people young and old a place to meet and is the focal point of the village.
“They will not break the spirit of the village or the many people who get great enjoyment out of this beautiful old hall, which is loved by all.
“This unfortunately leaves us with nowhere to run our voluntary group, which we provide for both the young and more mature.
“Booking for other events are now having to be cancelled, which include fundraising events and private functions.
“The vandalism these individuals have done is despicable.”
