A LARGE team of firefighters tackled a fire which broke out in Cheviot Square, Winsford, for more than an hour today.
Crews from Winsford, Middlewich, Nantwich, Crewe, Sandbach and Lymm, were all sent to the scene and will still be there for some time.
A cordon has been put in place around Cheviot Square and crews are using safety jets to dampen down the surrounding area.
The fire was at a commercial property believed to be The Edge, a boarded-up community youth facility.
A spokesman for Cheshire Fire Service said: “Firefighters are at the scene of a fire in a boarded up commercial property. The fire involves the first floor of a building measuring approximately 50m by 50m and smoke is issuing from the roof. Crews have divided the incident into sectors to be able to tackle the fire.”
It is not yet known how the fire started.
