WINSFORD Library will host a series of fun events in August for this year’s Summer Reading Challenge.

The annual event encourages children aged 4 to 11 to read six books during the long summer holiday.

There is a different theme each year, with this year’s animal detective-themed ‘Animal Agents’ starting officially on July 15.

The library will host an ‘Animals Takeover’ event on Monday, August 7, from 11am. Youngsters will be able to get up close and personal with exotic animals. Booking is essential.

Children will get to take part in Wacky science experiments with Molecular Marty at the ‘Fun Science’ event, which will take place on Friday, August 25, from 10.30am. Booking is essential.

The final event will see Professor Mace's Strange and Mysterious Beasts take over the library on Friday, August 11, from 10am to 12pm. This event is a drop-in session.

All of the events are suitable for children aged six to 12, although younger children can attend the ‘Animals Takeover’ event with close parental supervision.

Ian Anstice, Locality Librarian for Northwich and Winsford, said: “Animal Agents is fantastic to both have a free way to keep your kids busy over the summer and to keep their reading up over the holidays.

“It’s free to join and there’s so much going on in your local library. It’s always worth a visit.”
