OFFICERS are set to clamp down on anti-social behaviour in Winsford next month.

Throughout August, police are set to increase patrols in the Greenfields estate to prevent street drug dealing activity, which has previously been reported by the community.

There will be additional patrols on duty in the evening at key locations, including the Wharton estate, Asda's multi-storey car park, the Lifestyle Centre, Cheviot Square and the Over estate.

Police are also pledging to have visible patrols at all public events to reassure residents.

A spokesman at Cheshire Police said: "This period is of high demand for the police due to events and the increase in seasonal anti-social behaviour with kids off school.

"Traditionally there is an increase of incidents with the warmer weather, and an increase related to alcohol."
