A COMPANY that provides support for victims of crime in Cheshire celebrated its first anniversary.
On Monday, July 17, Cheshire Police and partners joined together in Winsford to mark the achievements of Remedi, a provider of restorative justice and mediation services.
The practices brings those harmed by crime and those responsible into communication as a way of enabling everyone affected to play a part in the healing process.
David Keane, police and crime commissioner for Cheshire, said: “Being a victim of crime can be difficult and traumatic for anyone.
“Everyone deals with it in different ways, which is why we must ensure that we provide all the services and support that victims require.
“Although it may not be for everyone, some people can only move forward with their lives once they have had their questions about a crime answered.
“I believe that restorative justice is a vital service.”
Remedi has supported more than 350 victims and offenders over the past 12 months and has recently announced a restorative thinking programme, which encourages offenders to think about crime.
Lisa Gill, manager for the Remedi hub in Cheshire, said: “It provides victims with a chance to be heard and allows them to understand what the offender is thinking.
“They can gain answers to questions that often burden them long after the crime has taken place.”
