TWO adult learners from Winsford received special awards at a ceremony held at Chester Zoo last week.

Michael Gorry and Daniel Buckley received Certificates of Commendation in recognition of their achievements while learning new workplace skills at the Changing Lives in Cheshire (CLiC) charity, based on Winsford Industrial Estate.

CLiC is a social enterprise that provides employment, training and developments opportunities for local people as well as enabling the re-use and recycling of waste to protect the environment.

CLiC works with a diverse and vulnerable cross section of our local community including: young people not in education, employment or training; people with physical or learning disabilities; unemployed and unskilled people; people from deprived and excluded backgrounds; ex-offenders; those coming back from mental health episodes and anyone who needs a helping hand to get themselves back on track.”

Carol Halpin, volunteer and placement co-ordinator at CLiC, said: “We were thrilled that Michael and Daniel received recognition for their hard work and effort during the last academic year and we’re really grateful to Kelly Connolly, their tutor at CLiC, who has been a tremendous support to both men.”

After receiving their awards Michael and Daniel were treated to a behind the scenes tour of Chester Zoo along with other Cheshire adult learners and tutors.

Through its outlets in Winsford and Warrington, Changing Lives in Cheshire also provides people on low income the opportunity to access good quality items for the home at low cost, as well as providing bargains and unique finds for all shoppers.
