A CANCER survivor who was told she would never conceive again after her chemotherapy has given birth to her ‘miracle baby boy’.

Sarah Pickles, 35, from Winsford, battled breast cancer for more than a year and was given the all-clear in 2016.

Sarah and her husband Dave, 42, had dreamt of ‘completing their family’ with a brother for their seven-year-old daughter, Lillie. So the couple were devastated when told by doctors that Sarah would not be able to conceive again.

But, after a scan revealed a shadow on Sarah’s spine which concerned doctors, further examination found that she was pregnant against all odds just months after being given the all-clear.

Sarah gave birth to baby Monty on June 13, and says she has not stopped counting her lucky stars since.

“It has made everything we went through worthwhile,” Sarah said.

“All through the pregnancy I just couldn’t believe it was happening, and when he was born it was such an emotional time for me and my husband.

“It was just so perfect and the fact that we had a baby boy as well – we feel like our family is complete.

“I still look at him now and think ‘after everything that’s happened, I just can’t believe we have this new addition to our family’. I look at him all the time and think ‘I’m just so happy and we’re so blessed to have him’.”

The shadow did in fact turn out to be benign tumours which Sarah is still being monitored for, but despite medical concerns about carrying a baby so soon after chemotherapy, both Sarah and Monty are in good health.

Sarah also released a book in December to help breast cancer sufferers and their families from the perspective of someone who has been through it.

The book, The Shock Factor: Sarah’s story - beating breast cancer one day at a time, reached top seller status on Amazon within hours of release, and is now set to be released on Kindle.

The inspirational Winsford mum’s amazing recovery is also due to take on another chapter as she now has plans on the horizon to start her own nail and beauty business.
