WHARTON residents are invited to a skills and opportunities event at the library.

On Tuesday, July 18 the Festival of Learning will start at Wharton library at 9.30am and is aimed at residents with social barriers who would like help getting back into work.

There will also be four presentations throughout the day as well as CV workshops, employment opportunities, childcare advice and a free raffle.

Stephen Smith, area skills and employment coordinator at Cheshire West and Chester Council, said: “This event is for those in Wharton who are struggling in the community.

“We know there are barriers such as mental health and home difficulties that might it daunting to catch a bus and attend events closer to Winsford Town Centre.

“This isn’t just a jobs fair. There are those opportunities available but anyone who feels they aren’t ready for work and need advice then we have people at hand ready to help.

“It’s also very important that we offer events like these in the more rural areas. I am pleased that the community has backed us and I’m sure it will be a success.”

Attendees include Welfare and Employment, Shop Mobility, Stonehouse Pizza and Carvery, Motherwell, Body Positive, Cheshire Libraries, Weaver Vale Housing Trust and Job Centre Plus.
