A 92-YEAR-OLD woman has died in Winsford.

Nancy Oakes, 92, was found dead at her home in Station Road on Friday morning.

There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.

A police spokesman said: “At 7.50am on Friday, July 7, police were notified of a sudden death at an address on Station Road, Winsford.

“A 92-year-old-woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

“There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a file will now be prepared for the coroner.”

Nancy, who was a widow, served in the Women's Royal Naval Service during the Second World War.

She was the former chairman of the Winsford and Middlewich Sea Cadets in the 80s and 90s.

Nancy’s son, James Oakes, said his mum was well-known in the town.

He said: “She as 92, she a long life, a good life, and died peacefully at home.

"You can’t ask for more than that really."

Nancy’s funeral will take place on Wednesday, July 19, from 2.30pm, at Vale Royal Crematorium in Davenham.

The funeral is open to the public. Family are asked to bring flowers and members of the public are asked to make donations to the RNLI.
