FIREFIGHTERS have completed their cycle to every fire station in Cheshire in support of their injured colleague.

On June 26 and 27, firefighters rode the two-day cycle for crew member Vicki Griffiths who was left paralysed from the waist down on March 17 after breaking her back in a freak gym accident.

The 31-year-old was lifting 130kg on the squat rack when the weight dropped on her back and hit her head.

The £8,600 raised by the group will help the mum of two readapt her home and car as well as support her through new challenges.

Mark Pollard, watch manager for Cheshire Fire, said: “We are like a family and she’s one of our own, so if there’s anything we can do to help her then we will do it.

"Vicki has to re-adapt to her new life and any money that we raise along with the love from her family and friends will help to support her through her new challenges.”
