A RECORD shop has opened a café inside its store.

Electric Church in Winsford opened on May 20 and has now launched a café to enhance the business.

The shop aims to connect with the community by making it a social hub for people to share their musical interests.

Jimi Coppack, owner, said: “The business has started fantastically and both residents and other businesses have made me feel welcome.

“It’s been surprising to see the variety of people and their interests when they’ve visited.

“We had a young girl in recently who bought Michael Jackson, and then we had someone in last week who was around 75 years old and he walked straight to the metal section.

“It has only been a short while since we opened but we’ve made some serious friends.

“One person in particular has come in and said this place is a second home, and to hear that is a great feeling.

“We’re also running music appreciation nights on a Friday. Everyone brings a record and we all sit, talk and listen to each other’s music.

“People have really engaged with us.”

Jimi is also planning to host a fundraiser in aid of cystic fibrosis in August where he will have up to 15 bands playing at the shop throughout the day.

Electric Church, at the Birtwhistle Buildings, Over Square, can order in new releases for customers with specific interests, and will also buy collections from sellers.
