A MAN has been charged with dangerous driving following a crash on the Moulton bypass.

Stanislaw Michalski, 53, from Poland has been charged with dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

Officers were called to a collision on the A533 at 12.40am on Monday, involving a grey Seat Ibiza and a black Mercedes HGV.

The driver of the Seat, a 50-year-old woman from Winsford, suffered life-changing injuries and was taken to Royal Stoke Hospital, where her condition is described as serious but stable.

A reader who was in the area at the time posted on the Guardian’s Facebook page: “I do hope the poor lady is ok, I tried to comfort her as much as possible until the paramedics arrived.

“Sometimes first aid skills are more about what you can say at the time instead of what you can physically do.

“A lovely family who also stopped to help were brilliant.

“They were just returning from the airport.”

The A533 was closed in both directions following the accident and reopened at 4.30am.

Mr Michalski appeared before south and east Cheshire Magistrates on Tuesday, June 20.
