MAN of the Year Danny Daynes said he feels like a different man since losing weight.

Danny, from Winsford, has gone from 16st 10.5lb to 13st 10.5lb, and was given the 2017 accolade by Winsford’s Tuesday morning Slimming World group.

Danny decided to give the group a try as his weight was taking a toll on his health.

Danny, 24, is sole legal guardian to his three siblings. He was struggling with his health and could not follow a recipe to provide healthy meals for his family.

Danny said: “Deep down I’d been unhappy with my weight for some time but it took me a long time to face up to it.

“When I admitted to myself I wanted to lose weight I still didn’t want to ask for help.

“I’ve realised now though that far from being weak, asking for help takes strength of character, and getting support to make changes has given me a sense of confidence that is benefiting every aspect of my life.

“My confidence has built ten-fold, I volunteer with Hartford NSPCC and am on the board of governors at Over Hall Community School.

“It was nerve-wracking walking through those doors for the first time, but I wasn’t the only man there and everyone was so supportive.

“Now I look forward to the sessions. There is lots of banter and laughter and I get some really good ideas too, from new recipe suggestions to ideas to boost my activity levels. I feel like a different man since losing weight.”

Cath Murphy, who runs the Tuesday morning group, said: “Danny has done brilliantly and we’re all amazed by his transformation. He’s a real inspiration to the group.

“We know many men assume slimming clubs won’t be right for them, but Danny shows once they come through the doors they do brilliantly.

“Like Danny I would advise anyone who would like to lose weight to find the courage to take that first step.”

The Slimming World group is every Tuesday at St Chads Church Hall, Gladstone Street, Winsford at 9.30am and 11.30am.
