FIREFIGHTERS were called to a house in Cambridge Avenue yesterday after a washing machine caught fire.

One fire engine from Winsford Fire Station was sent to the house and the crew found that the fire was out when they arrived.

A spokesman from Cheshire Fire Service said: “There had been a fire involving a washing machine inside the kitchen for a terraced property. The fire was out when the fire crew arrived.

“One hose reel jet was used to ensure that the fire was completed out. A large fan was then used to clear the smoke from the property. One casualty was checked by paramedics.”
