DOCTORS in Northwich and Winsford will be seeing patients today but may not have access to their records due to the NHS cyber-attack.

NHS organisations across the country have been hit by a cyber-attack on their IT systems since Friday last week, including some organisations in Cheshire such as East Cheshire NHS Trust and Cheshire and Wirral Partnership.

Vale Royal NHS CCG has now confirmed that GPs will be honouring appointments today, but may not be able to access some systems and some patient records.

A spokesman for Vale Royal CCG said: “GPs will be seeing patients today but they may not have access to some systems. Attend your appointment as usual."

Jonathan Griffiths, Chair of Vale Royal CCG and GP at Swanlow Medical Centre in Winsford, added: “Following the NHS cyber-attack, GPs in Cheshire will be open, but may not have full access to your records.”

Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Trust, which runs Leighton Hospital as well as Victoria Infirmary in Northwich and Elmhurst Intermediate Care Centre in Winsford, has confirmed that it has ‘isolated itself’ from affected organisations.

Tracy Bullock, chief executive, said: “We are currently checking all our layers of protection in our system and so far have found no issue or impact on the Trust from the cyber-attack.

“However, the Trust has had to isolate itself from other organisations who are known to be, or are likely to be affected. This will therefore impact on the levels of communications and correspondence that comes in and out of the Trust.”
