CHESHIRE Fire and Rescue Service is holding two informal free events in Winsford to help businesses understand their legal obligations.

The events will also help to protect livelihoods from the devastation of fire.

The free events both take place on Monday, May 8, at the Service headquarters in Sadler Road, and will help to provide delegates with information and advice to protect themselves, their customers and most importantly their livelihoods.

Simon Gibbins, head of protection, said: “Cheshire Fire Authority is committed to helping companies reduce the risks of fire including fires started by arson.

“It is estimated that up to 80 per cent of businesses are seriously affected following a fire and many never recover. Simple measures can be taken which can significantly reduce the threat.”

“It is hoped that anyone who has a responsibility for undertaking fire safety audits or Fire Risk Assessments within a company can attend and be better informed for the future.”

The first seminar starts at 9.30am and runs until noon and the second starts at 1.30pm until 4pm, and will offer a unique insight into fire safety requirements.

These include: completing a fire risk assessment and capturing the correct data, responsibilities as a business under The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, and sprinklers. Call 01606 868761 or email tracey.carter@cheshirefire.gov.uk to register.
