RUNNERS of all levels tackled the London Marathon on Sunday, April 23, with some raising a large amount of money for charity.

Julie Rarity raised £2,105 for the Make a Wish Charity, while Keith O’Neil raised more than £2,500 for the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

Keith said: “I was really pleased with my time as it was my first marathon and a warm day. It was very tough but I would just like to thank every single person who wished me good luck and congratulated myself at the end. My mum dad fiancée and sister were a great cheering team all the way round.”

They were also joined by Weaver Vale MP, Graham Evans, who took part in his sixth consecutive London Marathon.

Graham ran in support of Muscular Dystrophy UK and the Army Benevolent Fund - The Soldiers’ Charity.

Graham said: “I’m really pleased to have finished the marathon again. It’s a terrific event which raises millions for good causes and there is no greater feeling than running up the mall to the finish line hearing all the spectators cheering you on – a rarity for a politician.

“But it truly is an honour to help raise money for these very special causes.”
